What if fear is the only thing standing between you and your twin flame union? In this video I explore the spiritual and psychological reasons why fear blocks personal growth, soul alignment, and reunion with your twin flame
TWIN FLAME TALK: FACING FEARS
What if the only thing standing between you and your twin flame union is fear?
Fear traps us in survival mode, blocks growth, and prevents connection – not just from connecting with others, but also from connecting with our own self and to the divine source. Every time you act despite fear, you rewire your brain to associate courage with safety. It literally changes your identity. Research shows chronic fear inhibits the prefrontal cortex, the part of your brain responsible for thinking and planning; while over-activating the amygdala, the part of your brain responsible for your fight or flight response. This over time blocks long-term growth.
When you face your fears, you develop emotional resilience and also increase neuroplasticity – the brain’s ability to reorganise itself and form new neural connections during life. Confronting fear also develops something called approach motivation, the drive to engage with something perceived as positive or rewarding. This is essential for love, creativity, and goal pursuit particularly when approach motivation is ingrained as part of subconscious thought.
Being able to dissolve fears is an essential part of personal development and evolution in life. It’s what allows us to progress in all aspects of life: from chasing our dreams and pushing past self-limiting beliefs, to having a much deeper and profound understanding of ourselves and our place within our reality.
When it comes to twin flames, the process of overcoming fear is paramount. The first step of the twin flame journey is of self-discovery and shadow work so that we do not lose ourselves to such an intense connection that supersedes everything else.
It’s facing up to fears that have come from our experiences in life that open up the doors to new chapters of this journey; and which will bring up the greatest challenges to our faith, commitment, and resolve. And why should we walk through the fires of our own hell? Because the answers to our prayers and our dreams are on the other side of our fears.
Fear is a guardian of transformation.
– Hermetic thought
The twin flame journey is a path that straddles realty and the known world, and that of the unknown, mystical spaces. To come into union with your twin flame involves first passing through your own fears and illusions to reach deeper understanding.
Many esoteric teachings share commonalities in that the way to reach deeper union requires passing through personal fears and illusions. In the Bhagavad Gita, a major Hindu script, Arjuna must face his own inner war before uniting with the divine truth of his path. In Sufi mysticism, the path confronts many limitations in stages of letting go of fear, especially the fear of loss, pain, and of not being in control. In the words of Rumi: “Run from what’s comfortable. Forget safety. Live where you fear to live. It is, after all, highly unlikely that you will find your twin flame by staying at home waiting for him.
To meet my twin flame in the real world, I had to do something terrifying. I had to change my entire life
– LJ Bremer
Would you believe me if I said here and now that five years ago I couldn’t even leave my house for all the fears I had? Prior to university, that was my reality. I moved to Wales back in 2016 to create a new start somewhere far from the traumas I endured and survived. I had severe depression, chronic anxiety and agoraphobia, and my voice had been silenced mentally, emotionally, and physically – I seldom interacted with people vocally to the point my voice was barely audible and wavered from the lack of use of my vocal cords.
I had a NDE during the pandemic and promised myself that if I survived, I would never let my fears hold me back again. And so, I felt the fear and did it anyway. I finally applied to go to university and slowly reclaimed my voice and identity through my academic journey and the support around me. That was the catalyst where I finally stepped on to the path that would lead me to my twin flame in this reality and develop a greater understanding of what twin flame connections are. With each step I took, a new revelation of his identity that started in dreams and led me to him in the physical world.
Yet even knowing his energy and having a connection to him my entire life had just been the foundations for what would come: intense shadow work and multiple total transformations of self.
From being unable to leave the house and barely able to speak, I got comfortable being uncomfortable and felt the fear and did the thing. While my twin flame brought up each self-limiting belief and fear I had been paralysed by, I reclaimed my identity and my voice.
As I learnt to trust in him and to our bond, not only did our connection strengthen, but my reality improved. I healed the scars of my past and opened my world, I made friends, travelled solo to south Korea to do research for my dissertation, trusted in our telepathy to co-write my last book which is linked below, read my work at open mic nights, and now face the greatest fear of all for me: of being seen and heard with content now being uplaoed to YouTube.
While my progress may seem small and insignificant to an onlooker, to be able to hit record then share my videos on YouTube is a miraculous achievement to me. They’re far from perfect, showing my face is terrifying and I still think my voice sounds atrocious. But without that first step, no progress can occur.
It’s not about chasing my twin flame. It’s about becoming someone who could meet him at the right time, in the right place, as an equal.
– LJ Bremer
What does all of that mean? Well, I’m still becoming the person that can meet him at the same level. My time in Wales was that of healing. I had a safe harbour to heal my wounds and untangled the web of deceit and paranoia the world had placed in me, to remember who I was and have faith in myself; to pass through my personal fears and illusions and learn to dissolve fear with love.
Because for all us, no matter how strong the soul connection, I promise you they’re not getting delivered to your door.
Examples of people overcoming fears and self-limiting beliefs before union appear in literature, reality, and mysticism.
In many literary examples of the twin flame concept, you could liken the “quest for union” as the hero’s journey with abyss or dark night always preceding transformation.
– The hero’s journey, Joseph Campbell
There is Jane Eyre who overcame her fears of abandonment and deep trauma and finds strength in solitude before uniting with Rochester. Another example is Arwen in Lord of the Rings had total faith in the love she and Aragorn shared and chose to surrender her immortality for love – overcoming spiritual fear and the pressures of her father who wanted her to go West.
An iconic example of someone overcoming their fears and illusions in reality is Elizabeth Gilbert who left her whole life behind, faced deep inner wounds and found her soulmate in a moment of flow.
Facing fears is often an ongoing progression both in life and with the twin flame journey. To shift in any direction likely involves uncertainty and fear as new or hidden self-limiting beliefs present. The only way to keep advancing is to continue moving; to develop emotional resilience and increased neuroplasticity, and to take a leap of faith, knowing that the path will reveal itself even in the darkest of voids and silence of the unknown.
For me, the best thing to come out of facing my fears and coming into deeper union with my twin flame energetically is how my work has evolved. We bounce ideas around together, play games with our work and place little easter eggs for each other to find, and we co-write things. Sometimes he will give me basic ideas to work from, and other times I channel him.
When I moved to Wales, I took a leap of faith and was given sanctuary, the tools and people I needed to heal, and a return to the self I had lost along the way. While my time here in Wales has been magical and healing, it’s now too small for my journey and for my twin flame connection.
Though moving is terrifying as I will be leaving the first place I have felt safe and met my soul tribe; to stay is to stagnate and decay, and to lose all the progress I have been fighting for these last five years. To meet my twin flame in the real world, I have to once again face the fear and the unknown and change my entire life. I will go where I can be found by destiny.
When you find your twin flame you also find your freedom, for there is nothing more exhilarating, wild, and free than absolute soul love.

And so it is for your journey too, especially when seeking union with your twin flame. Wherever your fears may be, it is in facing them that progression and forwards movement can happen. It’s a challenging path where you will be continuously pushed out of your comfort zone, yet if you choose to walk this path, I promise you this: you will find so much more than union with your twin flame, your life will be enriched in countless ways and you will have so much more understanding of who you are.
I hope you enjoyed this brief look into the psychology and spirituality of why facing fears to come into twin flame union is important. What miracles are waiting for you on the other side of that fear?
