The White Rose was run by a group of fellow university students including Sophie Scholl in Munich who had a shared passion and interest for philosophy, theology, and the arts. Kurt Huber who was a professor of philosophy and musicology at the University of Munich was also a part of The White Rose. Together, they formed a strategy of passive resistance towards the Nazi regime by writing and distributing pamphlets calling for the toppling of national socialism. They were able to develop and issue six pamphlets in their time which included quotes from the Bible, Aristotle, Navalis, Goethe, and Schiller.

A copy of the 6th pamphlet was smuggled out of Germany and the RAF of the United Kingdom dropped countless copies of the pamphlet over Germany as part of their campaign. ‘The White Rose’ is written incorporating some of Sophie Scholl’s own words, and also extracts from the various pamphlets the activist group issued.
